Welcome to our Tumblog. Here we plan to share photos, videos, memories and other interesting moments from our life together.

We are 8 weeks along and so much magic is happening inside me right now.  What a miracle this little person is.  This is the pic from our first ultrasound on December 5th. Baby is just a little peanut right now, but growing every day.  I have had some nausea for the past few weeks and I am definitely experiencing food aversions.  No cravings!  Just aversions to pretty much everything.  I can’t wait to have my appetite back :)

After all of the wonderful memories we have made this year, I did not think that life could get any sweeter…I was wrong.  Our lives did just that when we found out this week that we are pregnant.  YES!!  And it happened on our first time trying.  We feel so grateful to be given such a blessing.

Today I am exactly four weeks.  I am very early in my pregnancy, but I am already so attached to my little embryo :)  Billy and I are thrilled to be parents and expect to welcome our baby on July 18th, 2012!  Can’t wait!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR….Since our wedding in June we have been to three more beautiful weddings.

First, Peter and lovely Koula on June 25, 2011
Second, Alex and Lia on September 17, 2011
Third, Gabby and Eric on October 22, 2011

It’s so exciting to share such a special moment with your friends. We can’t wait for future weddings and hopefully a lot of baby showers in the years to come :)

Another unforgettable trip for Billy and I. The honeymoon was nothing short of amazing. We traveled from Sacramento to New York, New York to Athens, Athens to Mykonos, Mykonos to London, and then home. We spent 17 wonderful days together just enjoying the sights, eating good food, and marveling at one another. Despite the 6 flights I had to take throughout the trip..it was still worth it. We are so excited for our life together and there is no better way to start the journey than with the incredible memories of our honeymoon.

Another wonderful week of marriage bliss has passed and I find myself missing the wedding. It was such an amazing evening of perfect memories that I wish I could relive it every weekend. It all happens so fast that you can’t help wondering what magical moment you missed.

Thank goodness that the wedding pictures keep on flowing in to give us little sneak peeks back into what was probably the best day of our lives…so far.

Here is another post from our photographer Amber from Shoops Shutter Photography. She amazes us each time she posts something new.

Ah, marriage!!!

Today marks 8 days that Billy and I have been married. The experience we had on June 11, 2011, when we became husband and wife was truly unforgettable. The day was PERFECT!! I have never felt so loved, so joyful, and so certain. It felt so easy and so right.

Married life has not really changed our day to day lives, but there is something to be said for how marriage vows affect you on an emotional level. There is just something unexplainable inside you that finally feels complete. Knowing that you are joined with the person you love more anything is an extremely blessed experience and I would not trade it for anything.

Yesterday Billy introduced me as his wife to an old schoolmate…my heart skipped a beat just hearing those words. I am happy to be the wife of such a wonderful man and I cannot wait to see what else our future holds. Super cheesy, but I am so in love. Even after six years together, I still feel like the best part of my day is when Billy comes home.

So many final details are starting to fall in place for the wedding. Last weekend we finalized our menu options and I picked out my veil, earrings, and a crystal belt to wear. I also found a really cool door to use for the escort cards and a table that we will use for the programs.

This weekend, Billy picked a suit from Ralph Lauren and I chose a wedding band.  I won’t see if for another month or so because they have to customize it to my ring size, but I am very happy with my choice.  It’s beautiful. And I cannot wait to see Billy in his suit at the other end of the aisle.  Yay!!

It’s a bit overdue, but we are engaged!!  After almost five years together, Billy popped the question on May 8th, 2010.  It was such an amazing day.  You can read about it on our wedding website www.thefuturedownings2011.com :)

But in the mean time, here is a sample of our engagement pics.  It was an amazing fall day in Calistoga.  Our photographer is awesome…Amber Felts from Shoops Shutter photography (www.shoopsshutter.com).

We absolutely cannot wait for the wedding day in June.  Less than four months away now.  I am so excited to be Mrs. Downing.

Dear Billy,

Today is your 29th birthday and you cannot imagine the joy that I feel knowing that I will be part of another year of your life.  Next to you is the place that I feel the happiest, the most at ease, and my true self.  You are my match in every way and being with you has shown me what it really means to love someone completely and without end.  To say that you could never fully understand how much I love you would be cliche, and it would be a lie.  You do understand, and you understand because you love me in the same way and with the same magnitude.  We are truly blessed to have found something in this world that is only ours to share.

I will love you forever.

Love, Jessaca

I am currently reading this wonderful book called “Dog Years” by Mark Doty. If you at all an animal lover (not just a dog lover) you will find pleasure in reading his lyrical words about the irreplaceable moments with none other than your pet. Here is a quote I find so true in all aspects of loss and not just the loss of a pet.

“Just now death remains an interruption, leaves me furious, sorrowing, refusing to yield. Too easy an acceptance seems, frankly, sentimental, an erasure of the irreplaceable stuff of individuality with a vague, generalized truth. That’s how sentimentality works, replacing specificity with a warm fog of acceptable feeling, the difficult exact stuff of individual character with the vagueness of convention. sentimental assertions are always a form of detachment; they confront the acute, terrible awareness of individual pain, the sharp particularity of loss or the fierce individuality of passion with the dulling, “universal” certainty of platitude.”
